Wound infection is a significant clinical problem as bioburden has been linked to healing outcome. Dressings releasing ionic silver (Ag1+) are widely used to treat wound infection. The development of dressings containing Ag7NO11 (KerraContact AgTM) which releases highly oxidized Ag (Ag2+ & Ag3+) offers the next generation of Ag dressings.
