National survey of UK ophthalmology trainees evaluating knowledge, access to training and educational needs relating to artificial intelligence (AI) and clinical informatics (CI). The study identified low baseline knowledge and limited formal training provision despite strong trainee support for structured AI/CI education and integration of digital competencies within the Ophthalmic Specialty Training (OST) curriculum. Themes included governance, clinical relevance, blended learning models and future workforce preparedness for AI-enabled ophthalmic care.
