Dural arteriovenous fistulae (dAVFs) can form as a consequence of other intracranial (vascular) pathology and may present with a wide range of symptoms. Some venous drainage patterns predispose to an aggressive course of the disease with annual mortality rates of 10% which force treatment even of high-risk lesions.
