Fever without apparent source usually of acute onset <1 week duration, is a common diagnostic dilemma for pediatricians caring for children younger than 36 months of age. It accounts for 20% of fever patients in this age group. Few of them have serious bacterial infections, who require aggressive diagnosis and treatment.
