NEUROLOGICAL COMPLICATIONS IN RUBELLA-INFECTED CHILDREN: IS IT REALLY RARE ONE?

Rubella is a mild viral illness, but sometimes causes many complications. Neurological complications are rare, with the reported incidence varying from 1 in 5000 to 1 in 6000[2]. However, in the non-vacination populations, Rubella can cause epidemic and its complications is not very infrequent. In Viet Nam, vaccination against rubella virus has not been included in the national vaccination program and rubella epidemic still occurs, but neurological complications have not been previously reported.
