Both extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (SWL) and ureteroscopy (URS) are well-established forms of management for ureteric calculi. Modern ureteroscopes and intracorporeal lithotripsy also share good safety profiles but are more often utilised for distal ureteric stones and lithotripsy failures
