GENETIC AND FUNCTIONAL ANALYSES OF THE MRAS AND HNF1A GENES IN DIABETES AND DIABETIC NEPHROPATHY

a 3rd Department of Internal Medicine, 1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic b Department of Pathological Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic c Rolf Luft Center for Diabetes Research, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden Background and aims: Genes MRAS on chromosome 3q22.3 and HNF1A on chromosome 12q24.3 are associated with coronary artery disease. These chromosomal localizations reside within the linkage regions for diabetes and diabetic nephropathy. We have performed genetic and functional analyses of MRAS and HNF1A genes to evaluate their defects in the development of diabetes and diabetic nephropathy.
